Camp Tuscarora Fall 08
To all Crews and ships – I am officially getting the word out for you to Mark your calendars for the weekend of October 3 – 5 2008. That is the weekend Crew 1001; The Frontier District of Baden Powell Council will be hosting an all Crew / Ship / Explorer event.
We are hoping to draw units from NEPA Council as well as our own NY State Councils and any who hear about it and wish to join us from NE-R VEnturing Areas (we are actually part of area 3)
Units will sign up through the Baden Powell council office (Michelle Moon is the contact) The estimated Camping and Program fee will be $14 per person. This fee covers two nights of camping in your own tents in our summer sites and access to all open areas and evening programs. These will include: Climbing; Shooting; Water Front; Mt. Biking ; Hiking; Orienteering; Crafts and Games. Also two socials Fri-Cracker Barrel and Saturday (Prom in the Woods or Movie Nite – TBD) Other program ideas may come on line to accommodate the growing number of participants.
The Fee does not include any Meals – Units will self cater.
Patches and Bandanas; Flag ribbons etc have yet to be determined as we are looking for sponsors.
Program areas will be open all morning to lunch then all afternoon to supper. Participants will be Banded. The band allows them access to all areas and events. Only a few activities will have a pre-sign up – in general we are hoping to have participants set there own pace by visiting all areas. Biking and Hiking will leave set points at a set time.
I am currently in the process of developing packets which can be mailed electronically or by regular mail. Required paper work will include:
-
Sign up sheets for participant profiles and fees so we can assign appropriate sites and accommodate program needs.
-
Tour permits
-
Medical Forms for all attending the weekend.
Other paperwork for your info will include Directions to Camp
Campsite / Area Map
Schedule.
We are hoping to pull off a terrific fun and social event for older Scouts (Crews/Ships/ Explorers) . This is our first attempt at such a large event and we are working closely with our camp staff, and council staff to pull it off.
Input welcome.
Hope to have more for you all soon.
Kate
